The Pikey & Loughz Show - Talkin’ Taipans S2 E1
Friday Jan 15, 2021
Friday Jan 15, 2021
We are back for a second season of The Pikey & Loughz Show, and Talkin' Taipans returns ahead of the long-awaited 2021 NBL season with plenty of excitement around what the Cairns Taipans will be able to produce.
Talkin' Taipans is hosted by basketball writer Chris Pike and one of the all-time great players of the Cairns Taipans, Alex Loughton, and Pikey & Loughz are returning for the second season of the podcast that celebrates everything about the Snakes and Cairns Basketball.
This first show of 2021 begins with a heavy heart, though, and is dedicated to the memory of one of the Taipans' greatest contributors, Ross Moller. It's the least we can do to celebrate this show to his and to celebrate his lifelong contributions and the impact he made.
The show then delves into the Cairns Taipans team for the 2021 NBL season with Loughz able to provide his unique insight into the playing roster, what players he is looking forward to seeing in action, the roles they will play and what he's expecting from them.
Loughz also isn't afraid to put his neck on the line and make some predictions for the season ahead, to offer his thoughts on how the rest of the NBL is shaping up and then of course look ahead to the two Round 1 games at home for the Taipans on Saturday night against the Sydney Kings and Monday against the Hawks.
It's all made possible thanks to the support of Cairns Total Physio (www.cairnstotalphysio.com.au) and Stattons Plumbing Company (www.stattonsplumbingcompany.com.au).

The Pikey & Loughz Show - Talkin’ Taipans Episode 8
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
Thursday Dec 12, 2019
The latest edition of The Pikey & Loughz Show has dropped with Chris Pike and Alex Loughton Talkin' Taipans, which means discussing the hottest team in the NBL right now, the Cairns Taipans.
The Taipans have now won three straight matches and five of the last six to move into the NBL's top four so there is plenty for Pikey & Loughz to dissect and discuss coming off the two big wins in Round 10 for the Snakes against the New Zealand Breakers.
Pikey still believe the Taipans are the most exciting team in #NBL20 but Loughzy is urging some caution and for the Taipans to avoid any sort of over-confidence as they prepare for the Round 11 double-header at home to the Perth Wildcats and away to the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
Much of the discussion this week surrounds Taipans point guard Scott Machado and just why Alex Loughton thinks he is so good and the perfect man to run this Cairns team, and why he would loved playing with him as well.
There's also a very special interview with one of Loughzy's long-time foes and a teammate in Cairns later in their careers, Cam Tragardh. They discuss all things Taipans right now and the two 300-game NBL veterans can't help but be liking what they are seeing.
All that and much more on this week's Talkin' Taipans episode, all thanks to Cairns Total Physio and Stattons Plumbing Company.
